Privacy policy

RetroHub is an old-fashioned services terminal. It plays without an account: everything below concerns only what travels, and who receives it.

The account is optional

You can play everything, without exception, without ever creating an account. The account serves two purposes only: carrying your name on the high-score board, and acting as the footing for entitlements and purchases to come. As long as you do not open one, nothing in this section applies to you.

What the account holds

An account is opened through an identity service that you choose. What is kept then:

• An account number, drawn at random. It is what identifies you with us, and it means nothing anywhere else.
• Your email address, if the identity service passes it to us. Some do, some do not, and some provide a relay address that hides yours. We take what comes and ask for nothing more.
• A chosen name, which you pick yourself — see the next section.
• A fingerprint of the link with the identity service. It is a digest, not the identifier it gave us: it lets us recognise you at the next sign-in without keeping the original value.

We ask for neither your real name, nor your photograph, nor your contact list. None of this information is sold, rented or passed to a third party.

The high-score board

If you open an account and choose a name, your best scores may appear on it. This board is public inside the application: other players see the chosen name and the score there, and nothing else. Neither your address nor your account number leaves it.

So choose a name you are willing to show. You may change it; the board follows at once.

Deleting your account

Deletion is done from within the application, in the terminal's settings, under “My account”. It takes the account with it, its address if there was one, its chosen name and the fingerprint of the link with the identity service. Your scores disappear from the board at the same moment: they were attached to it only by the account number, which no longer exists.

No email request is needed, and nothing is kept “just in case”.

What stays on your device

Your settings — screen rendering, sounds, cinema application, the last tile you chose, your answer to the question about advertising — are kept locally, on your device only. Your hangman points too. None of it is sent anywhere, and all of it disappears when you uninstall the application.

Playing together

Some games are played across several devices. A room is joined with a code; what travels then is the moves played and the course of the game. The room keeps nothing: it disappears with the game.

The services shown

The weather, the quotes, the horoscope, the sports bulletin, the news and the lottery results come from a content service operated by Inter-Système. The application requests these public pages; it sends no data that identifies you along with its request.

Advertising

RetroHub is free and is paid for by advertising. Half the time, the slot shows a banner drawn by the application, which communicates with nobody. The other half, it shows an ad supplied by Liftoff Monetize.

To choose and measure its ads, Liftoff may collect an advertising identifier, technical information about the device and an approximate location inferred from the IP address. That processing is Liftoff's and falls under its own policy, which you can read at liftoff.io.

Your choice about targeting

The first time you switch it on, RetroHub asks whether ads may take your interests into account. Refusing does not remove the advertising — it stays, but generic. Until you have answered, no ad is requested. You may change your mind at any time in the terminal's settings.

What opens outside RetroHub

Some tiles open another application or a website: a list of videos, an application's store page, or a media player installed on your device. As soon as you leave RetroHub, it is that service's privacy policy that applies, not this one.

Children

RetroHub is not directed to children in particular and does not seek to knowingly collect information concerning them.

Your choices

You may reset or erase your advertising identifier in your device's settings. You may delete your account from within the application. And you may stop all collection linked to the application by ceasing to use it and deleting it: its local settings go with it.
